HCA - The use of observation in social work practice
Effective observations of children and young people can be an essential aid to understanding their emotional and mental state, the quality of their relationships with key adults, siblings and peers, and a means of helping us to keep them safe and plan for their needs.
This workshop will:
- consider some of the challenges of observing a range of children of different ages in different settings
- suggest ways in which observation can both shed light on behaviours and inform our understanding of the child
- offer a supportive space to share experiences and good practice with colleagues in different teams
Who should attend?
Social workers and other staff in Haringey Children’s Services interested in sharing their experiences and developing their understanding and skills in using observation as a tool in their work with children.
