HCA & YJS- Understanding Attachment and Trauma to Work Therapeutically with Young People

Key objectives:

1.Grasp Attachment and Trauma Theories: Understand the Dynamic Maturational Model of attachment and the Polyvagal Theory of trauma in an accessible way.
2.Recognise Behavioral Signs: Apply knowledge of attachment and trauma to understand and interpret challenging behaviors in young people, discerning their purposes.
3.Improve Therapeutic Relationships: Focus on understanding therapeutic relationships, their functions, and indicators to enhance professional interactions with young people.

Aims:

This course aims to equip professionals with a comprehensive understanding of childhood attachments and trauma, their impacts on behaviour, and effective strategies to build therapeutic relationships with young people and support them in overcoming these difficulties.
