Cultural awareness to the Turkish and Kurdish community by Daymer
The session will be facilitated by Taylan Sahbaz, the Centre Coordinator at Day-Mer, the Turkish and Kurdish Community Centre.
Please note that this session will be taking place at the Cypriot Centre (location details below).
What you will cover in this session:
- The history of London’s Kurdish, Turkish, and Turkish Cypriot Communities established in London
- Where these communities are based; the languages spoken; the religious traditions; the social and cultural ways of life; and the challenges this community face.
Insights about a day in the life of typical Turkish/ Kurdish family, and their child will be shared.
Aims of the session:
- Developing our understanding of the Kurdish, Turkish, and Turkish Cypriot Communities, and their ways of life, traditions, the challenges they face and hold this in mind when we intervene with families.
- Engagement tips for enhancing our working together.
- Understanding the culture through the eyes of a child and their families.
Location:
This will be an in-person session to be held at the 'Cypriot Centre' - Earlham Grove, Wood Green, London N22 5HJ.
