HCA: Mental Capacity Act

Summary:

This training will discuss the issue of mental capacity and what steps should be taken if there are concerns that someone you are working with may lack mental capacity to make decisions.  

This session will cover:

• The Mental Capacity Act 2005;
• The legal test for identifying if someone lacks mental capacity to make a decision; and
• Practical steps that should be taken if you consider someone you are working with (for example a young person or a parent/guardian) may lack mental capacity to make a decision.
