HSCP-Responding to DA: Engaging Perpetrators and holding them to account (half day training) - aimed at all safeguarding professionals
This training will be facilitated by the DVIP online. This is a half day session.
DVIP has 30 years of experience working with perpetrators to hold them accountable. DVIP delivers a group programme and one to one work that keeps the perpetrator central to the process of change. They expect the person who is the source of the problem – the person using the violence – to be the person who changes their behaviour.
Training aims & objectives
To increase delegates confidence and competence in the following areas:
• Identify key dynamics of coercive control and other partner abuse indicators
• Assessing risk, including bi-directional allegations to avoid misidentification of victim
• Recognising children as victims of domestic abuse (Domestic Abuse Act 2021)
• Recognise and respond to the obstacles to talking with adult perpetrators about their use of abuse
• Principles underpinning work with perpetrators
• Safely and effectively engage with people suspected of perpetrating abuse in conversations about change
• Supporting adult victims (who may remain in relationships with abusive partners) to make informed choices and aligning with the non-abusive parent as a source of protection for children.
