Key objectives:
1.Understand Youth and Deviance: Delve into why youths join violent or criminal groups, considering various influencing factors.
2.Apply Youth Work Practices: Utilise youth work theories and methods across diverse settings to support positive youth development.
3.Assess Policy Impacts: Examine how current policies affect young people in criminal contexts or high-crime areas.
4.Reflect and Collaborate: Foster self-reflection and share insights on combating youth violence.
5.Explore Comprehensive Solutions: Research multi-disciplinary approaches to address youth criminality and violence effectively.
Aims:
Learners will understand the factors that cause young people to join deviant groups who may be involved in different forms of violence and criminality.
They will understand how to apply youth work theories, models and approaches in a range of settings, and will understand the implications of current policies and practices when supporting young people involved in criminality and living in environments where crime and violence are commonplace.
Learners will be able to reflect on and share own learning about ways to address issues around youth violence.
