Understanding the difference between coercive control & controlling behaviour

Lite Bite - Session aims:

This will develop your understanding when dealing with public protection incidents concerning coercive and controlling behaviour.

 Learning outcomes

  1. Identify and explain the key definitions, legislation and guidance associated with coercive & controlling behaviour.
  2. Describe the impact of abuse on a victim. Recognise the signs. Identify the offences.
  3. Police Response - Make the victim(s) safe - Use BWV while obtaining initial account and conducting DARA interview.
  4. Identify and relate to the different types of potential abuse that may be evident at a domestic incident.
  5. Explain and apply risk assessment methods as part of the police response and victim protection policies.
