Supporting Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
This session will present findings from research conducted by Protect Children and the International Policing and Public Protection Research Institute (IPPPRI), Anglia Ruskin University: Our Voice: Survivor Experiences of Online Abuse, 2026. Based on the experiences of nearly 25,000 survivors worldwide, this study challenges the misconception that online child sexual abuse is less harmful, highlighting the profound and long-lasting impact it can have on survivors' wellbeing and recovery.
The session will also introduce the ECHO Survivor Hub, a service established to support survivors of child sexual abuse whose abuse material has been shared online. ECHO works to ensure survivors and their families can access appropriate support, explores opportunities to remove abuse material from circulation to help reduce revictimisation, supports survivors to have their voices heard when their images are linked to new investigations, and helps them understand the compensation options that may be available to them.
