Target Audience
It is essential that all professionals across the partnership network can recognise and spot the signs of child sexual abuse. The purpose of the training is to increase professional knowledge, skills and confidence of all staff in this critical area of work.
This multi-agency training session is therefore aimed at all colleagues including:
- Local Authority (Children’s Social Care, Early Help, Youth Justice Service, Housing, Adult Social Care)
- Police across all grades
- Health Care including health visitors, midwifery, clinicians, GPs
- Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) from school
- Probation Service Practitioners and Managers
- Voluntary and Community Sector
- Faith Sector
Training Description
This one-day introductory course is designed for professionals who work in collaboration with other agencies, to provide an overview of the key issues to support them in identifying and responding to cases of intra-familial child sexual abuse. It will be delivered by two experts with experience across a multi-agency safeguarding partnership and is CPD-certified as conforming to continuing professional development standards and benchmarks
Learning Objectives:
- To gain a better understanding of:
- the scale and nature of child sexual abuse
- how the impact of child sexual abuse presents in children and young people
- how children communicate their experiences of sexual abuse and the professional role in helping them do this
- how and why sexual abuse happens in families.

- Greater confidence in identifying and responding to concerns of intra-familial child sexual abuse.

- Improved ability to identify the potential signs and indicators of sexual abuse and sexually abusive behaviour.
