HSCP Train the Trainers training (3 days)
This programme will be delivered online and is designed for practitioners who will be delivering in-house training sessions to staff.
Sessions will be participatory: participants will be involved in exercises and discussions to help them to develop and try out training content and methods. They will be expected to complete a short pre-course questionnaire and activities set between sessions.
Aim: To develop the knowledge, skills & confidence of participants in delivering short training sessions
Outcomes: By the end of the programme participants will have –
- Considered their role, skills and knowledge as a trainer
- Explored the different components of a training session
- Identified strengths and weaknesses of different training methods and aids (including those for online learning)
- Developed and evaluated a training session plan
- Discussed strategies for managing challenging situations & participants.
Note: The course runs over 3 months one course per month, you will book onto 18th January 2022, but you must attend all 3 dates - see below.
Session 1: 3 hours - 18/01/2022 start 9:30am
- You as trainer/facilitator: subject expertise and trainer skills
- Co-training/facilitation: approaches & factors to consider
- Developing a session: essential steps
- Adult learning: principles into practice
- Setting clear & realistic outcomes
Pre-session activity: Training subject preparation; planning a rough draft
Session 2: 3 hours - 08/02/2022 start 9:30am
- Developing your session: core components & sequencing
- Selecting & using training methods and training aids for ‘bite-sized’ sessions
- Adapting sessions for online or face to face delivery
- Keeping it interesting
Pre-session activity: Challenging training scenarios to consider; producing a session plan
Session 3: 3 hours - 15/03/2022 start 09:30am
- Coping with challenges.
- Discussion of draft training plans (using 2-3 plans as basis for discussion)
