HSCP Contextual Safeguarding in Haringey
Training by Haringey’s Violence, Vulnerability and Exploitation Team
- To understand the multiple risks of extra-familial harm *within the definition of contextual safeguarding.
- Know and understand the local community – understand the demographics of Haringey in regard to the issues, to include hotspot areas, what is the intel telling us? *map of area and markers.
- To identify and respond to the harm and abuse posed to young people outside their home, either from adults or other young people. *Triggers / push and pull factors, changes in behaviour.
- Importance of undertaken mapping exercises, use of assessments based on approaches to understand contextual risks, VOLT.
- Haringey’s internal pathways to contextual safeguarding.
- Relate this to new Contextual Safeguarding Child in Need planning in Haringey starting 16 01 2023.
