HCA - Child Protection Skills Training Programme

Aimed at front line social workers (including NQSWs, those in year 2 and 3 post qualifying)

The Child Protection Skills Training Programme is a series of training sessions incorporating child protection processes and statutory guidance.

When applying for the first training session you will be enrolled for all the remaining sessions. We will send you calendar invites. Please accept them and block your diary for the training.

The dates and themes of the sessions are as follows:

CP skills workshop 1 (29^th April 10-12:30)
Managing conflict in child protection - how to feel confident balancing authority with compassion in forming collaborative relationships with parents (6^th May 9:30-12:30)
Top tips on how to use attachment theory and trauma to improve your observation skills, direct work and intervention with children and families in child protection (12^th June 9:30-12:30)
CP skills workshop 2 (17^th June 10-12:30)
Effective assessment in child protection (two full-day in-person training sessions - end of September 25) Day 1: Avoiding common pitfalls and minimizing errors in judgement, and how to use the chronology as the most powerful tool to assess risk and the impact of harm on children.
Day 2: Practical ideas and tools to write evidentially robust, analytical, and child-centred assessments of children and families that make a difference
CP skills Workshop 3 (23^rd September 10-12:30)
CP skills Workshop 4 (14^th October 10-12:30)

The CP skills workshops, will be facilitated by Abdul Munim and Stephanie Szwarc.

Please note that some sessions will be online, while others will be in person.
