HCA-Centre of expertise on CSA- ‘Intra-familial child sexual abuse for social workers – intermediate level’

This course is aimed at front line staff (social workers, and other experienced front line staff in social care working with children and families).

This is an in person 2 day course. When you book your place for the first day you are automatically booked for the 2 days. 

About the course
Social work practice in cases of suspected child sexual abuse can be complex, emotional and challenging. We use a combination of practice experience, the latest research, and reflections from the perspectives of children, young people, and adult survivors in this
empowering two-day course. This training course aims to improve the knowledge, skills, and confidence of social workers in assessing and intervening with families where there are concerns of child sexual abuse.

What you can expect to learn
In addition to meeting the learning objectives from the one-day introductory course, you can also expect to build on it by developing:
• improved ability to apply theory about how sexual abuse happens in families to practice, in cases of child sexual abuse
• increased knowledge and understanding of tools to support assessment in cases of alleged, suspected or known child sexual abuse
• a better understanding of the key factors to assess, and how to intervene effectively, incases of alleged, suspected or known child sexual abuse, taking a whole family approach
• increased ability to undertake effective assessments of child sexual abuse, including considerations for the child, the alleged/suspected perpetrator and the non-abusing parent(s)
• increased knowledge of the key tenets of family safety planning
