First Step: Preparing and supporting younger children and their networks during transitions and placement changes
Preparing and supporting younger children and their networks during transitions and placement changes
Friday November 15th 2024, 10am -12 o’ clock, face to face, 20 people maximum;
delivered by clinicians from First Step (Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust), an emotional and mental health service for Haringey’s children in care
Children in care often face a number of moves between caregivers. It can feel difficult to find the right ways of communicating upcoming change, preparing them for and supporting their move to a new family.
This workshop aims to provide:
- an opportunity to reflect on the experience of transitions from the perspectives of babies, younger children, carers and staff
- discussion of risk and protective factors for children facing transitions
- a supportive space to share experiences and ideas for planning, supporting and managing transitions with colleagues in different teams
Who should attend?
Social workers, supervising social workers, foster carers and other Haringey professionals working with children in care, who are interested in sharing their experiences and developing their understanding and skills in working with children in transitions.
